If your facility has purchased a vital signs interface, the Import Vitals option will be enabled on the Vital Signs Review screen when a patient has vital sign data available from the interface. If there is no data available for the patient from the interface, the Import Vitals option will remain disabled.

 

To import vital signs from an interface, select Import Vitals.

 

•If the vital signs are set up with the update type of Auto, when the Import Vitals option is selected, any vital sign data available will automatically be imported into the Vitals application. The Vital Signs Review screen will update with the imported vital signs.

 

•If the vital signs are set up with the update type of Manual, when the Import Vitals option is selected, the Vital Signs Interface Verification screen display.

 

 

The Vital Signs Interface Verification screen displays in three columns:

 

•Date/Time: Displays the date and time the vital sign information was taken.

 

•Vital Sign: Displays the type of vital sign that is being imported into the Vitals application.

 

•Value: Displays the value of the vital sign that is being imported into the Vitals application.

 

 

The following options are available on the Action Bar:

 

•Back Arrow: Returns the user to the previous screen without saving any changes.

 

•Process: Imports the selected line(s) of documentation into the Vitals application. The vital signs will display in the same format as if they were entered in the Vitals application. The default site for all imported vital signs will display as Monitor.

 

•Select All: Selects all lines of documentation so they can be imported into the Vitals application.

 

•Remove Entry: Removes the selected line of documentation from the Vital Signs Interface Verification screen.

 

•Settings: Displays a view-only version of the Monitor Settings screen for the associated department. This will display the vital sign and the update type that has been set for that vital sign.

 

•Refresh: Updates the display with any additional vital signs sent from the interface.

 

 

Each vital sign will display on its own line of documentation on the screen. Users can select multiple lines of documentation by holding the <Ctrl> key while highlighting all of the desired entries.

 

NOTE: Vitals that are left unselected within the Vital Signs Interface Verification screen will remain there until they are either processed or removed.
